F.A.Q
- Do I need a partner?
-
No, although it is appreciated if you do, to ensure the numbers of the class don’t get too unbalanced. If the numbers are uneven, don’t worry; the classes are run on rotation. Every so often, you move on round, and that way you get to dance with everybody.
- How do classes work?
- The class begins with a gentle warm up, just to get our bodies in gear. We then partner up and rotate around the room every so often. We teach you a move, you learn it, and then put it to music. Each routine usually covers 4-5 moves.
- How do I move up ?
Once you’ve been attending classes for a while, you would have picked up the basic 21 beginner Ceroc moves, and danced them to perfection. When you feel like you’re ready for more of a challenge and want to improve your dancing, have a chat to one of the teachers about moving up. They’ll have a few dances with you and let you know if they think you’re ready. We also suggest a “moving up” workshop, just to make sure you’re ready for the next step, and to pass on other vital bits of information that we don’t always get time to cover during class.
- What dance experience do I need?
None whatsoever. Ceroc is designed so that there is no complicated footwork; it’s easy to just dance. If you’ve had prior dance experience, you’ll find it easy to pick up and will probably recognise other dance styles that have crossed over to the world of Ceroc.
- What do I wear?
Something that is comfortable to move in. Layers are good, because you are more than likely going to get warmer once the blood getting flowing! Comfortable shoes are a must, no heels that are too high or unstable. Bring a spare pair with you if in doubt.
- What is freestyle?
Freestyle is dancing “off the cuff” and is essentially what Ceroc is and was invented for. Once men have learnt and committed a few moves to memory (more than 1 or 2!) than we can dance those moves, in any combination, to any piece of music.
- When do I start?
-
Anytime! Just turn up and join in. If you want to watch one week to see what we’re all about before you join in, that’s fine as well. Each night a different routine is taught, so you can miss a few weeks and pick up where you left off last time. Needless to say, the more you come the better you get!
